Head Start's mission is to provide comprehensive services to income eligible preschool age children and their families while preparing children for kindergarten and assisting families in reaching individual family goals.

The Agency's oldest program, Head Start is a comprehensive child development program for income eligible pre-school aged children, 3 and 4 year olds, and their families. Every child enrolled receives a variety of learning experiences to enhance their intellectual, physical, social and emotional growth.

There are eight (8) Centers located throughout the county. Families of Head Start children are assisted in reaching self-sufficiency goals. Ten percent (10%) of the funded enrollment is allocated for children with special needs. The program also provides extended day care for working parents.
